We live in Bigton which is a village on the South-West mainland of Shetland. Bigton beach was voted the number one beach in Scotland and is a Tombola beach (has sea on both sides), the island attached to the beach is 'St Ninians' a hoard of gold and silver jewellery was found there a few years back. http://news.stv.tv/scotland/19.....-scotland/ . our post code is ZE2 9GA
Bigton has a local shop, post office, cafe , art gallery, community hall, fantastic countryside and sea views, no-crime, lovely quite area. There are buses into Lerwick, the capital for food shopping #Tesco, Co-op etc# everyday except Sunday, if you are disabled or an OAP there are shopper buses which come to your house and pick you up, ppl also car share.
We live in a close http://www.originart.eu/shetland/south/bigton/010_4.html our bungalow is the one far right. All our neighbours are lovely friendly people, people here tend to look after one another, but are respectful.
People who live on Shetland are entitled to 40% discount on travel back to Scotland via ferry or sea, once you are here you can register for it, although there is no discount on the ferry cabins. If you book the plane well in advance and when the sales are on you can get really good deals.
Lovely one bed semi bungalow with large well looked after garden, with parking. Very close to beach-All newly decorated including woodwork, new laminate flooring in hall and livingroom, vinyl in kichen, new kitchen fitted and shower room has none slip wet room flooring put in by the council. In the bedroom there is carpet.
